Walk to your outdoor condenser. Clear leaves, grass clippings, mulch, and growth within 2 feet. Gently hose the fins from the INSIDE OUT (don’t bend them). 10 minutes of work = 10-15% efficiency gain on day 1.
Battery-powered thermostats — swap the batteries. Programmable schedules saved? Verify. Old mercury thermostats — consider upgrading to a smart thermostat ($200-$400 installed). See our thermostat guide.
We measure suction + discharge pressures with proper gauges. Low pressure = refrigerant leak that needs fixing BEFORE summer. Catching this in April: $400-$800 repair. Catching it in July with a frozen coil: $1,200+ emergency call.
Indoor evaporator coil + outdoor condenser coil deep clean. Clear the condensate drain (a clogged drain is the #1 cause of indoor water leaks in summer). 23-point inspection — we catch capacitors, contactors, & motors that are about to fail.
Capacitors degrade over 5-7 years. We test capacitance vs spec — if it’s at 85% of rated, we proactively replace ($300-$500) instead of waiting for the breakdown. Contactor points pitted? We swap. Wires loose? Tighten.
